What to Expect in the First Session?
Many clients ask this if they have had not had prior psychotherapy. This info was meant to be informational and not all inclusive. I have no way of predicting what happens the day you come to see me. Having said that, I work very hard to make you feel comfortable and understood. If there is a current emergency in the day ahead of you, your appointment may be rescheduled and I thank you ahead of time for your cooperation.

Forms: You can expect to sign Confidentiality which includes Fee forms and policies, No show forms (not showing without proper cancelling within 24 hours), Release of information for your Doctors, Relevant Agencies (Child Protective Services, Local hospital, Parole officer, etc), and this includes Family and Friends.
You should bring your Insurance card, Drivers license (or other ID) and a credit card. Your insurance authorization number and information about Copay, Deductible and Limits on Sessions Should be researched before you come in and I will check as well. In my experience, I have found sometimes one party is not told the whole story of how to process a claim.
After that, I will begin a thorough history to understand how you came about your situation and what is the best way to help you given your payment, length of treatment and expectations. If I feel another Therapist/Psychologist is better suited for you, I may recommend that person or 3 people. I have a network of people I refer to. It is very important to me that you like your therapist and are committed to your treatment. If either criteria is missing, you will be referred since your health is my first concern.
You may be referred if your case is too work intensive and I have a heavy workload already. This will be made on a individual basis.
